In Week 49, 2025 (Dec.1 to Dec.5), the International Grain Future Freight (IGF) forward freight rate trend for Panamax from Gulf America to Tianjin (soybeans) for the period of March to May 2026 is shown as follows:
Dry weather in parts of Brazil continues to slow soybean planting progress. As of now, Brazil’s soybean planting rate stands at 89%, still behind 91% at the same time last year. In Argentina, excessive rainfall in some regions and localized dryness in others have jointly delayed planting progress. Argentine institutions forecast 2025/26 soybean production at 48.5 million tons.
In the transportation market, from Dec.1 to 5 (Mon. to Fri.), forward freight rates remained stable and ultimately closed at USD 39.50/ton, unchanged from Nov.28 (the last release day of Week 48).
