In Week 52, 2025 (Dec.22 to Dec.24), adjustments to the publication schedule resulted in three releases of the International Grain Future Freight (IGF) Forward Freight Market Report. The forward freight trend for Panamax from Gulf America to Tianjin (soybeans) for the period of March to May 2026 is shown as follows:
Some soybean-producing regions in Brazil experienced prolonged rainfall, delaying harvest progress. Brazilian agencies now forecast 2025/26 soybean production at 180.4 million tons, higher than the earlier estimate of 178.5 million tons. In Argentina, soybean planting has reached 75.5% completion. Local agencies project the 2025/26 soybean planted area at 17.6 million hectares, a 4.3% decrease from last year’s 18.4 million hectares.
In the freight market, forward freight rates remained stable on Dec.22 (Mon.). On Dec.23 (Tue.), the forward rate declined slightly by USD 0.25/ton and then held steady on Dec.24 (Wed.), ultimately closing at USD 38.25/ton, representing a 0.65% decrease compared with Dec.19 (the last release day of 51).
